THE CHALLENGE
Following the success of our 360˚ VR experience with Orbis VR (read here). We were asked by Brandwidth Media to help with their developing 360˚ VR Tour of Villa Park , the Aston Villa Stadium using the revolutionary Nokia Ozo 360˚ stereoscopic camera. The idea was to offer a unique perspective of the ground, with a flight over it’s award winning pitch and seeing the stadium in situ of the city of Birmingham.
THE SOLUTION
Firstly, there were heavy limitations with this operation. The stadium itself sits amongst a busy intersection of traffic, however, working on the limitations of our PfAW, we were able to position ourselves in the parking facilities of the ground, and marshalling the foot traffic and cars within the confined space, we were able to provide an elevated position that could offer a unique introduction to the Virtual Tour, taking in the sites of Villa Park and the surrounding city. Once we were within the grounds the operation became much easier. We were able to control the grounds considerably for foot traffic and launch from the centre of the pitch (taking care not to damage that award winning green turf!) and present a huge number of 360˚ shots of the stadium, giving sweeping effects towards the goals and unique flight raising above the stadium stands.
